If you're looking for more outdoor adventure the Herts Young Mariners Base in Cheshunt offers sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, power boating, climbing, caving, camping, rafting and even dragon boating. Or try your hand at the Lee Valley Regional Park 34-post orienteering course set within the 1000 acre of the River Lee Country Park or bring your bike or hire one when you get there and cycle the 26 miles of the park. If you would prefer a more relaxing activity then visit Batchworth Lock Canal Centre and try your hand with radio control boats.
If you enjoy wildlife the Lee Valley offers a unique patchwork of lakes and waterways, a haven for wildlife. The RSPB Rye Meads Visitor Centre at Stanstead Abbotts will guide you to a wide range of wetland habitats with reed beds, open water and meadows to attract many different birds. For a hands on experience visit Celtic Harmony, Brickendon and try ancient craft and conservation skills in this living history settlement set in beautiful woodland.
For the ultimate try, karting at Rye House Kart Track or on the 550 metre circuit at Superkarts Indoor Karting Centre, Letchworth. This is ideal for groups and individuals, whether a novice or experienced. Both centres have a cafe or restaurant area.
If you prefer a more leisurely activity then Megabowl in Stevenage offers 34 lanes of Tenpin bowling, along with computerised scoring, a bar, pool tables, a diner and games machines. If your feeling lucky then the Rye House Stadium is an established venue for greyhound racing and speedway.
