Benington Lordship Gardens: A clever mixture of formality and wilderness, with extensive collections of plants and wild flowers – post code SG2 7BS, approx tour time 1 hour
Directions to next destination: Bear left onto Broadwater Lane and return to A602, follow signpost to town centre and A1(M), at A1 (M) roundabout is Knebworth entrance.
Knebworth House and Gardens – The present 25-acre garden dates largely from the Victorian and Edwardian eras, with more recent and continuing restoration and additions. Sir Edwin Lutyens re-designed the formal gardens in the early 1900s. The main features are the Sunken Lawn with twin avenues and a central square of 'pollarded' limes, the Rose Garden with lily ponds and herbaceous borders, the Gertrude Jekyll Herb Garden and the Wilderness Garden which includes the Dinosaur Trail – post code SG1 2AX, approx tour time 1 hour (garden only)

Hatfield House: Enjoy this beautifully designed garden which includes orchards, fountains, scented plants, terraces and herbs – AL9 5NQ, approx tour time 2 hours
Directions to next destination:Take A1000 signposted Welwyn, then onto A414, then onto A119 signposted Ware. Continue entering Ware until mini roundabout then take A1170.
